The 11th PS was involved in combat at Samar, Mindanao, and Jolo.
In 1917, this battallion was reformed into the 1st Philippine Artillery Regiment.

The 1st Battalion 163d Field Artillery was originally organized in the Indiana Army National Guard in Southwest Indiana as the 2nd Battalion 139th Field Artillery.
It was at this time the former elements were reorganized and redesignated as the 163d Field Artillery, a parent regiment under the Combat Arms Regimental System, to consist of the 1st Battalion, an element of the 38th Infantry Division.
The nickname "river rats" although fondly remembered gave way to the "Nighthawks" of the 76th and because of the artillery distinction, was further known at the "Redhawks" of the "Nighthawk" brigade.

The 4th Battalion, 1st Field Artillery was organized in 1792 in the Regular Army near Fort Wayne, Indiana, as Captain Moses Porter's Company of Artillery of the 3d Sublegion, Legion of the United States.
In 1846, Company E, 1st Regiment of Artillery fought with General Zachary Taylor during the Mexican War, during which the artillery often proved to be the decisive factor at places such as Palo Alto, Resaca de la Palma, and Monterey.
