The comic had the good fortune to showcase a new generation of great artists, all looking for a place to showcase their talents.
Former 2000 AD artists Brett Ewins and Steve Dillon created Deadline, a hip monthly comic to give new talent a chance to make their mark.
In recent years the fortunes of comics have waxed and waned in the US, while an increasingly cut-throat British publishing market is squeezing the life from any title not linked to a TV, film or toy licence.

 2000 AD Review - Sprout column 1
Let other kids' comics be nicey-nicey and sanitised and pastel-coloured and come with free lollipops – any 2000 AD derivative should have action and violence and murder and retribution and bloody great cyborgs tearing up the city.
2000 AD succeeded where contemporaries like Warlord and Bullet failed, and it occurs to me that there are two primary reasons for this: (1) Pat Mills and John Wagner, and (2) it didn’t treat the readers with kid(s) gloves.
Of course, this new comic wouldn’t be quite the same as 2000 AD was in its infancy: to be successful, it would probably have to be even more violent.

Shaun of the Dead is an everyday tale of life, love and the living dead, focussing on a group of friends who encounter a literal weekend from hell as their lives, loves and personal squabbles are upstaged by a full scale invasion of the living dead.
2000 AD, Britain's premier sci-fi comic, has been in continuous publication since 1977, and is home to such iconic characters as Judge Dredd, Strontium Dog and Rogue Trooper.

Comics Should Be Good! » Comic Book Urban Legends Revealed #25!
COMIC URBAN LEGEND: Grant Morrison’s script for BULLETEER didn’t actually request that level of cheesecake, and certainly didn’t ask for the lead character to spend most of the issue in her underwear.
According to Paquette (and verified by his studiomates), in the comic book, there was only one scene where Morrison did not specifically state that Alix Harrower was to be drawn in her underwear.
One of the big success stories in comics today is when a creator has his or her comic adapted for the screen.

 Alan Moore information - Search.com
Moore briefly became a media celebrity, and the resulting attention led to him withdrawing from fandom and no longer attending comics conventions (at one UKCAC in London he is said to have been followed into the toilet by eager autograph hunters).
Moore's original strip for the British Warrior comic, created in collaboration with artist David Lloyd, was designed as an homage to the spirit of the British Boys Adventure comics of the 1950s and 60s as well as referencing literary sources such as George Orwell and the anarchism of William Blake.
It was among the first comics to use the literary device of intertextuality, with V's speech often made up of extended quotes and references that are not cited.
