 Election 2000 Results
Using County-by-County election return data from USA Today together with County boundary data from the US Census' Tiger database we produced the following graphic depicting the results.
Alaska, Hawaii, and the New England states are missing because the data from USA Today doesn't match the county data from the US Census.
For example, the New England states' election return data is given for each municipality and/or district rather than for each county.

 Roger Clegg on NRO
USA Today this week, also reporting on census data (collected in a March 2000 survey), pointed out that “wide differences exist for subgroups within the Hispanic population” in level of education.
Earlier census data had found that, over the last 20 years, the number of marriages between blacks and whites has more than quadrupled (white-Hispanic and white-Asian marriages are even more common).
Indeed, the multi-race option was added to the census form in large part because of pressure from the increasing number of those who are either in multi-race marriages or are the product of them.

 Multiracial
But multiracial people won a victory of sorts with the 2000 United States Census, which allowed participants to select more than one of the six available categories, which were, in brief: White, Black, Asian, Native North American, Pacific Island, Other.
Apparently contradicting this, more recent census data shows the population of England (in lieu of the UK) to be 1.3% mixed-race (2001), compared with, for example, 1.4% in the USA (2002 estimates, see below).
The census takers had intended " Hispanic " to be a different dimension to other categories, so it would include "White Hispanic", "Black Hispanic" and so on, so these people disappeared from the mixed-race figures in the 2002 estimates.

FT January 2002: The Reappearing Nuclear Family
First, in April the Census Bureau dramatically reported that the "nuclear family" was "rebounding." The page—one story in USA Today announced: "The traditional nuclear family—a married mom and dad living with their biological children—is making a comeback, according to a Census report released today.
A series of recent reports from independent scholars, plus largely unpublished data from the 2000 Census, all suggest that the trend of family fragmentation that many analysts had assumed to be unstoppable suddenly stopped in its tracks about six years ago.
And to add injury to insult, the obscurantist definition of "traditional" means that the Census Bureau, while allegedly describing a nuclear family "rebound," actually underreported the proportion of U.S. children living with two married parents.

 CAMSIS USA
The 2000 construction used the US 2000 Census classification ; the 1990 CAMSIS construction is based upon the American 1990 census occupational classification OCC90, and the 1960 construction based upon the 1960 census occupational classification OCC60.
According to the IPUMS website, most US occupational classifications of recent years (there is a different classification every decade since 1950), can be considered reasonably closely related to either the 1990 or 1960 census classifications.
The first uses those categories that are conventionally distinguished in US occupational data; the second uses those constructed categories that we derive in order to provide scores that are compatible with other groupings that are used in international comparative studies (see the fuller discussion in the web page on Status in Employment).
