  Public Science Day 2000
In connection with Public Science Day, Unisys Corporation is proud to announce the inauguration of "The Unisys Prize — Online Science Education Excellence." This competitive award was presented on Public Science Day in recognition of outstanding use of the web as a tool for science investigation.
In January 2000, the panel of judges evaluated the project webspaces in competition for "The Unisys Prize." One team was selected to receive the prize.
The team was invited to attend the prize presentation ceremony in Washington, DC on February 19, 2000.

 Science Olympiad 2000
Science Olympiad is a science-specific academic competition in which 6th to 12th grade high school students participate in various events which test the student's knowledge of science by exams, experiments, and building projects related to the four main fields of science: Physics, Biology, Chemistry, and Earth Science.
Thirty high schools in all competed in various events ranging from Reach for the Stars, an astronomy event, to Wright Stuff, an event in which students are tested in their knowledge concerning aeronautics and their prowess in building a model airplane.
The team from Mentor High School which went to the invitational scrimmage taking place at Clearview High School on January 22 ended up doing rather well considering most of our upperclassmen/women were taking their SAT tests back at the school.

Comparison of observations made with Chandra in October and January, and with Hubble in February 2000, show the X-ray emission peaks close to the newly discovered optical hot spots, and indicate the wave is beginning to hit the ring.

Their weapons, computers, aircraft, etc. are just variations on existing technology, leaving me wondering what their tech was like 1000 years ago when they conquered Earth.
Still in SCIENCE MOMENT mode, I also have to point out that gorillas, chimpanzees and orangutans are separate species and would have no more romantic interest in each other than they do now.
This is a common mistake among the science illiterate.
