The 1999-00 NHL season was the 83rd regular season of the National Hockey League.
1999-2000 was the inaugural season for the Atlanta Thrashers.
This season was also the start of the NHL's partnership with ABC, who would televise a few regional games every season, as well as games 3-7 of the Stanley Cup Finals.

McGillis, in his third full season with the Flyers, has one of the NHL’s largest point increases from the 1999-2000 season to the 2000-01 season (with a minimum of 60 games played).
Cechmanek was drafted by the Flyers in the sixth round (171st overall) of the 2000 NHL Entry Draft.
He is the first "first-year" goaltender in Flyers history to record 10 shutouts in a season and his 10 shutouts are the most for a Flyers goaltender since Bernie Parent recorded 12 during the 1974-75 season and the most for a “first-year” goaltender since Tony Esposito posted an NHL-record 15 shutouts during the 1969-70 season.
