 Music of Scotland at AllExperts
Scottish traditional music, although influencing and being influenced by both Irish traditional music and English traditional music, is very much a creature unto itself, and, despite the popularity of various international pop music forms, remains a vital and living tradition.
The history of the guitar in traditional music is recent; as is that of the cittern and bouzouki, which in the forms used in Scottish and Irish music only date to the late 1960s.
Music had long been primarily a solo affair, until The Clutha, a Glasgow-based group, began solidifying the idea of a Celtic band, which eventually consisted of fiddle or pipes leading the melody, and bouzouki and guitar along with the vocals.

Moby, MP3 Music Download at eMusic
Moby was one of the most controversial figures in techno music, alternately praised for bringing a face to the notoriously anonymous electronic genre, as well as being scorned by hordes of techno artists and fans for diluting and trivializing the form.
In either case, Moby was one of the most important dance music figures of the early '90s, helping bring the music to a mainstream audience both in England and in America.
Not only did his music differ from both the cool surface textures of ambient music and the hedonistic world of house music, but so did his lifestyle; Moby was infamous for his devout, radical Christian beliefs, as well as his environmental and vegan activism.

Finnish folk music - Towards the 2000s
The Folk Music Festival was joined by the Folk Music Institute (1974), the Ala-Könni-opisto music institute (1994), the folk music ensemble Tallari (1986) and the Suomen Kansansoitinmuseo (Finnish Museum for Traditional Instruments, 1987).
The first experiments in blending Finnish folk music with genres of popular music were made by Paroni Paakkunainen and Edward Vesala, with their Karelia band, in the early 1970s.
For this reason, it is particularly encouraging that folk music should have become a trailblazer for the country's entire musical culture in such a short space of time.

The History of Rock Music - The 2000s
Rock music was born a music of and for young people (or, at least, young people thought so, not realizing how much their choices were being manipulated by the managers of the major recording labels).
Rock music used to be a music for young people only because young musicians were the only ones willing to experiment, and young listeners were the only ones willing to listen to their experiments.
It was therefore a music for the mind, not the body, and that was, in retrospective, its major innovation: rock music became a more conceptual and more adult form of art than it had been in the 1950s and early 1960s.

The Grip Weeds: PRESS - Summer of a Thousand Years
Their music is unapologetically retro-1960s, and even though Summer of a Thousand Years was recorded in 2001, it sounds like it could have been recorded in 1967.
The Grip Weeds offer no acknowledgment of 2001’s alternative rock scene; their turf is the psychedelic pop-rock and jangly guitar pop of the 1960s, and they excel by sticking with the type of music that they obviously cherish the most.
Retro gems like "Moving Circle", "She Surrounds Me" and "Love That Never Ends" aren’t the least bit groundbreaking, but they’re certainly rewarding and heartfelt—if you’ve spent hours and hours savoring the Byrds, Buffalo Springfield, the Yardbirds and Revolver-era Beatles, it is impossible not to fall in love with Summer of a Thousand Years.

The eccentricity and versatility of Da Backwudz's music place them outside the categorical box of crunk music in the 2000s Southern rap scene -- but not that far.
Cousins Sho Nuff and Big Marc, real names James Redding and Marcus Thomas respectively, hail from the eastern metro-Atlanta town of Decatur, GA. Their musical origins lie in traditional church gospel and their musically inclined family.
However, in 2004, music and film super-producer Dallas Austin (TLC, Michael Jackson, Madonna), who caught wind of Da Backwudz's music, resurrected his then-defunct label Rowdy Records in order to work with them and subsequently signed the new group.

Brooklyn-based hardcore rapper Necro raised the bar for perversity in the late '90s and early 2000s with his music and films.
Moreover, Necro directed a video for "I Need Drugs" that featured people shooting up heroin and smoking crack while he rapped, and he also included lots of bizarre photos in the album's booklet.
Following his debut album, Necro released a series of albums compiling random recordings of his from the '90s (mostly radio-aired freestyle performances and home demos) and followed up I Need Drugs with Gory Days (2001), a similarly exploitative effort.
