All passengers arriving on the Isle of Man from the UK will continue to be asked to pass through disinfectant treatments introduced when foot-and-mouth disease was first detected in the UK to protect the Island's agricultural industry which is of major importance to the Island.

The 1926 Lightweight TT Race produced one of the most notorious events in the history of the Isle of Man TT Races described by the "The Motor-Cycle" Magazine as the "Guzzi Incident." The Italian rider Pietro Ghersi was excluded from second place for using a different sparking-plug in the engine of his Moto Guzzi.
The 1930's was a decade which the TT Races became the predominant motor-cycling event in the racing calander and perhaps seen as the classic-era of racing in the Isle of Man.

The FIM controversially stripped the TT of its World Championship status in 1976 claiming the Mountain Circuit was too dangerous and the British round of the series was switched to Silverstone.
The TT without World Championship status was a potential disaster which was overcome partly due to the event itself being bigger than its star riders and partly because of a whole new breed of road racing specialists.

In a speech to the Manx Parliament, Tynwald, on 24 April 2001 Chief Minister Donald Gelling MHK announced the annual Isle of Man Tourist Trophy Races for the year 2001 would not be taking place due to the threat of foot and mouth disease.
The disease has spread throughout other areas of the British Isles but the Isle of Man, at the time of writing, has so far remained unaffected, partly due to stringent measures to avoid use of the Manx countryside for leisure pursuits and cancellation of events.
The amount of attractions laid on ensured that TT 2001 was not totally ignored but hopes are high for TT 2002 and the Department of Tourism and Leisure promise that the festival will be bigger and better than ever before.

The TT was first revealed as a concept car during the 1995 Frankfurt Motor Show.

We lost Joey Dunlop in the July at Tallinn in Estonia, and in 2001 the TT was cancelled due to the "Foot and Mouth Disease" scare.
The TT appears to have been reduced in status, laps and practice to a point where most people wonder if the expenditure of getting there either to spectate or participate is worth it.
For me, the T.T. as we knew it, died in year 2000, not just because we lost two great TT riders, but it was then that we saw that plans were being laid down to downgrade this event and in 2004 this is extremely evident..............
