The new millennium saw a change in Madonna as, ever at the forefront of popular music trends, she took the earth mother vibes of Ray Of Light and transposed them to the heart of the dancefloor.
Whereas Ray Of Light was her album of the joys of motherhood, Music is clearly the sound of a woman in love, for hard evidence look no further than the ballad "I Deserve It", with its opening line "This guy was meant for me", clearly dedicated to the father of her second child, Guy Ritchie.
Music, offered another set of a diverse range of tracks that were both adventurous and compelling which has always been the genius of Madonna as she still never ceases to amaze and surprise.

As always, we pay tribute to the heads of music services, advisers, classroom teachers, instrumental teachers, pupils, students and parents; heads and governors who in their various ways can and do make a difference; and composers and professional musicians too, who, increasingly, inspire and enthuse young people in and out of school.

The Community Music Service (CMS) not only maintained the ten-year old policy of free individual and group instrumental tuition, free loan of instruments and opportunities to play in CMS ensembles, but also took steps to ensure that that policy had influence in those schools which historically had not taken-up provision.

The music is acoustic, with only tasteful percussion usually in the form of congas and muted cymbal crashes, but the musical path is blazed by violin more from the Robbie Steinhardt (Kansas) school as well as classically strummed guitar.

Another novelty is the introduction of six major themes that thread their way through the book and which are colour coded and signposted, backwards and forwards, at the top of each page through the book.
The most unusual and perhaps the most significant of these themes is 'Women in Music' covering their often unrecognised and unappreciated role as both composers and performers.

As my review copy arrived minus a track listing I can’t really talk about individual cues, but when the music is this good that doesn’t really matter very much.
Certainly his extensive choral writing is the key element that gives the music its real power and majesty, but every track is framed with that distinctive combination of heart and edge that is so much a part of this composer’s style.
It seems to me that John Barry writes from the soul and at his best taps into both the darkness and the light that lives there, conjuring it forth to move us, to stir us, to communicate with us on some primal level.
