  2002 Malaysian Grand Prix - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The 2002 Petronas Malaysian Grand Prix was a Formula One race held on March 17, 2002 at the Sepang International Circuit and was the second race of the 2002 Formula One season.
The Grand Prix is notabelf or the first lap collision between Williams driver Juan Pablo Montoya and Ferrari's Michael Schumacher, which lead to the Colombian being given a driver through penalty.
The Grand Prix was won by the Williams-BMW of German Ralf Schumacher, who commented that it was "almost a perfect race".

The Brazilian won pole position for the season-opening Australian Grand Prix two weeks ago, but was knocked out of the race on the first corner by Ralf Schumacher in a massive pileup.
Michael Schumacher has won the last two Malaysian GPs and would have one the debut race if he hadn't purposely made way for then-teammate Eddie Irvine in 1999, who was contending for the championship.

The 2003 Malaysian Grand Prix was a Formula One race held on March 23, 2003 at the Sepang International Circuit.
It was the second race of the 2003 season, and it was won by Kimi Räikkönen, driving a McLaren Mercedes, his first ever Grand Prix victory.
Raikkonen eventually earned his maiden Grand Prix victory with a large margin of 39s.

THE BMW WILLIAMS F1 team scored a 1-2 in the Malaysian Grand Prix and took the lead in the FIA Formula 1 Constructors' World Championship.
A win is a win but the real story of the Malaysian Grand Prix was not that Ralf won but rather that Juan Pablo Montoya did not for in a perfect world that would have been the result.
Montoya was quicker than Ralf all weekend but at the first corner he came to blows with Michael Schumacher —; and suffered at the hands of not only the World Champion but also the FIA stewards.

International motorsports governing body FIA said the court overseeing the winding up of Prost Grand Prix had not transferred the team's entry into this season's championship to Phoenix.
Nickerson, citing Phoenix's French lawyers, said the rights of the former Prost team, including its 2002 Formula One entry, had been transferred to his company in accordance with French law, and FIA was notified in writing on February 28.
