The Gold Cup is already rigged to favour Mexico and the US with the way the scheduling and venues are determined - if they can't manage to finish 1-2 in the tournament with all the cards stacked in their favour then they don't deserve to be in the Copa.

I wish CONCACAF got its act together and put on a serious tournament, during the off-seasons of the region's major leagues (i.e., around December), and held in a small geographic area (instead of this year's Foxboro-Miami-Mexico City mess).
The gold cup used to be held at the beggining of the year.
Like Brazil, Concacaf or whoever created this year's tournament knew there'd be great support for Colombia OR we just invited them as a 'GoodWill' gesture to CONMEBOL for inviting Concacaf teams the last time the COPA AMERICA was played.

Born out of the success of the 1999 Women's World Cup, the first CONCACAF Women's Gold Cup was played in 2000 in the United States.
With the U.S., Canada and Mexico playing at a different level than the rest of the CONCACAF region, the hop is that the tournament will increase the exposure for and development of women's soccer in the region.

I speak, of course, of the Canadian men’s soccer team, who are in Foxboro, Massachusetts, to take on Costa Rica and Cuba in the 2003 CONCACAF Gold Cup.
We’ll know lots more after the Gold Cup games are in the books, but it’s all seems like pretty much more of the same just now.
The real reason Oceania hasn’t been represented at the World Cup for ages is that their teams simply haven’t gotten the job done.
