Was a member of the 2004 U.S. WJC squad that won the gold medal in January, and also played an important role as a freshman with the Fighting Sioux in 2003-04.
While he failed to crack the 2004 Russian WJC tournament lineup in December, he bounced back at the 2004 World under-18 tournament and was one of the best players for the gold-medallists (6 GP, 2-5-7, +7, 2 PIM).
Is considered one of the biggest wild cards of the 2004 NHL draft, mainly because he has supreme offensive skills and a very projectable body.
