Tennis Masters Cup - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Tennis Masters Cup is a tennis tournament played annually at the end of each year, involving the top eight players in the men's tennis world rankings.
As with the Masters and the ATP Tour World Championships, the Tennis Masters Cup is contested by eight players.
However under the rules of the Tennis Masters Cup, the player who is ranked number eight on the ATP world rankings does not have a guaranteed spot.

Grand Slam Cup - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
It was an International Tennis Federation (ITF) event (like the Grand Slam events themselves), held every year in Munich, Germany, from 1990 to 1999.
The Grand Slam Cup was not recognized by the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP), however, and thus participation in it did not count for any points in the world rankings and it was not considered an official career title.
Technically this was the end of the competition, since the general view is that the Tennis Masters Cup is a continuation of the World Championship, not the Grand Slam Cup.

TennisReporters.net/Tim Henman unleashes his tiger on the press
The dampness and unseasonal cold which greeted arrivals in Houston was nothing, though, to the frostiness that currently exists between Henman and most of the British tennis press corps, which, as usual, will be in attendance to cover their man's every forehand and post-match utterance at the Tennis Masters Cup.
Presumably Henman was too busy playing tennis to read any of it, for twice in the last month he has rounded on the traveling troupe of British tennis writers with a venom that belies his reputation for gentlemanly courtesy.
He further justified his comments by suggesting that the British tennis press were comparatively thin-skinned, considering the criticism which he has had to endure throughout his eight or so years in the public eye.
