Personally I feel that Canada is like a parasite in that they are culturally, politically, financially, and militarily irrelevant without the United States.
About your other negative knocks on Canada, I'll let UN do the speaking that Canada is usually a better place to live than USA (Although many argue, only marginally so -- but the same can be said of any good developed country).
Canada isn't a 3rd world country, it is a 2nd world country.
