The UK music industry recorded an overall 3% increase in volume sales, mostly due to its robust albums market.

A new band who describe their music as "stadium rock" but have no guitarist have been voted the most promising act on the music scene in a BBC survey.
Almost 60 influential opinion-formers in the UK - from magazine editors to radio playlisters - were canvassed for the survey.
And Evening Standard music critic David Smyth said their lack of guitars made for "a really distinctive, classically simple sound" that would be "a surefire route to success".

UK’s new Sacred Music Program at the masters level graduated its first two candidates in May. Jane Johnson and Lindon Kanakanui will both continue in their sacred music pursuits as the first graduates of this exciting new program.

The residency was supported by the John Jacob Niles Center for American Music and the UK Appalachian Center and included seminars, lectures, and classes with students from the UK School of Music, Department of History, and the Gaines Center for the Humanities.
