British Sea Power builds it up; Feist strips it down - The Boston Globe
It's not entirely clear how two acts as different as British Sea Power and Feist ended up sharing a bill, but with their two-week tour nearing its end with Monday's stop at the Middle East, the contrast between them provided yet more evidence that less can be more.
That's something British Sea Power hasn't yet mastered, but it's a lesson the band seems to be learning.
Part of the problem was British Sea Power's distracting penchant for mild gimmickry, which included a pre-show mix peppered with radio-type promos for its new album, ''Open Season," recordings of ocean-themed sounds filling the gaps between songs, and keyboard player Eamon's invasions of the audience while beating on a drum.

That quoted the independent research company TNS Worldpanel, which put the cost to British music in 2005 of people file sharing rather than paying for music at £414m.
Or, as it quietly adds, "approximately £650m at trade value" - that is, to the music industry rather than the industry and retailers together.

A Proms concert of British music is hardly a rarity, but the one this Monday, August 8, covers virtually the last century.
I suppose that it's rarely heard because it's so difficult to play, but his music has gone into a surprising decline since his death, which I feel will be reversed by the centenary.
The later music I find difficult and lacking the intensity of the earlier works – to me it's almost as if he'd found a way to compose which made it easier for him: previously it had always been a struggle, which is what makes the music so compelling.”
