I've written on a few occasions about how gaming for children can be quite beneficial either by educating them on a topic or perhaps to take their minds off of traumatic events like upcoming surgery.
I encourage the children to think of other ideas/paradigms and reasons for video games as they learn the foundation of video game development and build games of their own.
To me this is an excellent example of how video game technology can be used to as a powerful learning tool with children.
