RIYADH, Saudi Arabia -- Saudi Arabia have sacked their Argentine coach Gabriel Calderon after he led them to the 2006 World Cup finals by topping their Asian qualifying group ahead of South Korea.
His deputy will be Nasser al-Jawhar, who coached the Saudi team at the 2002 World Cup where they lost 8-0 to Germany, 3-0 to Ireland and 1-0 to Cameroon.
Brazilian Marcos Paqueta was announced as his replacement by the Saudi federation on Tuesday.
