The Rock struggled during the early part of the 2006 season however their record balanced out to 8-8 at season's end.
The Rock went on to defeat the Arizona Sting with a 19-13 win in front of an NLL record crowd of 19,432, becoming NLL champions for the fifth time in seven years and solidifying their distinction as an NLL dynasty.
Less then 18 hours after the Toronto Rock won their 5th NLL Championship, former coach and General Manager Les Bartley died on May 15, 2005 of cancer at the age of 51.

Mueller, 38 (8/25/66), was named a Minnesota Swarm assistant coach on November 4, 2004 and enters his 17th season in the NLL.
Prior to joining the Swarm, he most recently served as head coach of the Philadelphia Wings for three seasons (2002-04), compiling a 23-25 record and one playoff appearance.

According to Head Coach & Director of Lacrosse Operations Paul Dal Monte, it was a deal done primarily to accommodate Law, Wittman and Morgan, each of whom was interested in residing in the United States, while acquiring future young talent in return.
