 | | FAR HILLS, N.J. -- Oakmont Country Club in Oakmont, Pa., a northern suburb of Pittsburgh, has been chosen as the site of the 2007 U.S. Open Championship, the United States Golf Association has announced. The Championship will be played from June 14-17. |
 | | "Oakmont is well known as one of the best golf courses in the country," said Fred Ridley, chairman of the USGA championship committee. "In addition, Oakmont has provided the U.S. Open history with some dramatic finishes and accomplished champions. We thank Oakmont for its generous invitation to again host our National Championship." |
 | | Designed by Henry C. Fownes and William C. Fownes Jr., the course was opened in 1903. It has undergone revisions by numerous architects, the most recent by Arthur Hills in 1988. |
