		The Canadian Olympic Committee, as the host country, has pledged to obtain the most gold medal standings at the 2010 Winter Olympics, due to its failures to obtain a gold at both the 1976 Summer Olympics in Montreal and the 1988 Winter Olympics in Calgary.
		During their coverage of the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City, Australian comedians Roy and HG launched a campaign for the 2010 games at the little-known, tiny Australian ski resort of Smiggin Holes, even going so far as to produce a promotional video, jingle and directly raising the issue with IOC President Jacques Rogge.
		As of 2004, the cost of the 2010 Winter Olympics is estimated to be in the range of C$1.4 billion.

		Posted - 7/19/2004 11:33:00 PM and to people who are against Vancouver 2010, i've been following and learning about 2010 and the Olympics for the last 3 years....i can tell you that much of what you said is not true...unfortunately, i don't have the time to explain it right now...maybe tomorrow.
		I had high hopes for the Olympics, but it's hard to still believe when the appointee represented a crown corp that has done nothing but be controversial and lose money for the last seven years.
		While I would support the Olympics in Vancouver, I agree that everybody is entitled to their opinion.
