2067 is the 12th album from The Rheostatics, their first in three years.
But this is a pretty short album as it is, and two consective novelty tunes by Dave, both "about music", in the middle of the album, is just too much to take.
The Rheos did a fantastic job choosing the songs (and their order) for this album, and I think this is why some people are calling '2067' a concept album (a topic, I think, which may warrant another discussion).

After the album's release, Dave Clark bowed out of the band to pursue his own interests, and the band was released from its contract with Sire.
Ostensibly a children's album, the CD came packaged inside a jewel-case-sized hardcover book containing a story by Bidini and hand-painted illustrations by Tielli (who had also contributed artwork to nearly all of the band's previous albums).
Despite the focus of the album, the album remained appealing to the adults that made up the bulk of the band's fanbase.

 The Rheostatics
Recorded with longtime collaborator and current drummer Michael Phillip-Wojewoda at his home studio, 2067 is be another seasonal blend of originals penned by Bidini and bandmates Martin Tielli and Tim Vesley.
While the Rheostatics have always modified and tweaked their music from album to album, their fanbase has likewise modified and tweaked itself right alongside.
Further testament to The Rheostatics success is the fact that over 20 years, 11 albums and hundreds of concerts into their career, the band has continued to succeed on its own terms with little support from the mainstream media.

In this case, that means pre-1972 sound recordings are protected until February 15, 2067, the date Congress has chosen to cut off all common law copyrights in sound recordings.
How about this: yesterday’s decision means that The Grey Album is more likely to be infringing Capitol’s common law copyright in The White Album, a pre-1972 sound recording, and the outlandish claims in their cease-and-desist letters have become retroactively slightly less outlandish.)
It’s important to remember that this decision is limited to acts of infringement that take place in the state of New York, and infringement in New York consists only of unauthorized reproduction.

Rarely are there albums where every second is worth examining, where one feels compelled to describe every note — looking at it from the perspective of sound, of imagery, of taste (if it were possible)… forgetting that the easiest way to express it all is to direct the listener to listen for themselves.

Unfortunately, they are also one of the most under rated bands, and I believe time will tell them to be one of the great music artists of our time and place.

Their latest album, 2067 (their 12th official release) is another slice of astounding northern songcraft, though I believe this album will hit home for more Americans than some of their previous work due to the subject matter and the timing.
The disc's most eclectic moment comes right at the start in the form of "Shack in the Cornfields", a 7-minute atmospheric epic that puts you up in a sprawling field somewhere in Ontario and ends with a striking musical simulation of rain against a tin roof.
The album then moves through the gorgeous and pondering "Here Comes The Image", the mellow instrumental shuffle of "Who is that Man, and Why is he Laughing?," the relatively straightforward but very tongue-in-cheek "The Latest Attempt On Your Life", and another classically Canadian Bidini tune called "Polar Bears and Trees."

There are a few things we have come to love about indie-pop mascots Rheostatics over the years.
It's called 2067, apparently after the eventual 100th birthday of one of its members.
Not that anyone would notice any of this -- after 12 albums and a couple of decades on the scene, Rheostatics remain woefully ignored in their homeland even as they place their own bizarre stamp upon its culture.
