Arctic Climate Change: 8. What changes are expected in specific areas of the Arctic?   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-11-05)
By the 2090s, model simulations project a further increase of annual average temperatures by around 3-7°C (5.4-10.8°F) in different parts of this sub-region.
For the 2090s, model simulations project annual average warming of 3-4°C (5.4-7.2°F) over the land areas and Bering Sea, and about 6°C (10.8°F) over the central Arctic Ocean, with most of the warming occurring during the winter.
By the 2090s, the entire region is expected to show an average annual warming of up to 3-7°C (5.4-12.6°F), with most of the warming occurring during the winter and over the water.

Effect of Climate Change on Isoprene Emissions and Surface Ozone Levels
The effect of climate change on vegetation, isoprene emissions and surface ozone levels was investigated using a global three-dimensional general circulation model coupled to a dynamic vegetation and chemistry models.
Integrations for the 1990s and 2090s were performed.
Surface ozone levels rose by 20–30 ppbv in some locations with fixed vegetation owing to increases in precursor gases, but only by 10–20 ppbv if the vegetation changes were included.

Interviewed on a typically balmy afternoon in San Francisco, study co- author Susanne C. Moser said that because of the influence of cooling ocean breezes, the city's increasingly frequent heat waves were more likely than in other places to start and stop abruptly.
A new set of global-warming projections for five California urban areas suggests San Francisco, long used to cool summers, may have to adjust to more frequent heat waves and the ensuing increase in heat-related illnesses and deaths.
Here are detailed projections for the 2050s and 2090s under two scenarios: "Lower emissions" assumes less heat-trapping gases and less warming, while the "higher emissions" scenario assumes more emissions and warmer temperatures.

Sacramento might experience even fewer heat-related deaths in the future, assuming its residents acclimate to overall warmer temperatures.
Under the lower-emissions scenario, one computer model shows heat-related deaths dropping by 21 percent in the 2050s, before rising by 21 percent in the 2090s.
But, in an illustration of the sometimes-shaky nature of computer modeling, the second model projects a 73 percent increase in heat-related deaths in Sacramento in the 2050s, rising to 107 percent in the 2090s.

NASA GISS: Research News: Future Crop Loss Due to Extreme Rain Events   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-11-05)
Global climate model simulations used in the study project increases in total precipitation and in the number of extreme precipitation events in the Corn Belt and on average for the continental United States.
The modified model showed that the probability of crop damage due to water-logged soils could be even greater than the projected increases in heavy precipitation - corresponding to 90 percent more damage in the 2030s, and 150 percent more damage by the 2090s, compared to present conditions.
To relate the climate and crop model results to economic losses, Rosenzweig and her colleagues used USDA economic data to estimate that damages to U.S. corn production due to excess soil moisture currently amount to about $600 million per year.

Apart from the possible odd flurry of meteors in following years it appears that we (or our children) shall have to wait until the 2090s for the next decent displays, though I do not know why the 2033 and 2066 Temple-Tuttle returns are considered so unpromising.
