20th hijacker - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
A 20th hijacker is a hypothetical additional terrorist in the September 11, 2001 attacks who was not able to participate.
Because one plane, United Airlines Flight 93, had fewer hijackers than the rest, the idea of a 20th hijacker came to be widely discussed.
One alternate theory is that there really was a 20th hijacker on the planes, a ghost terrorist from the Second World War who aided the other 19 living terrorists.

Organizers of the September 11, 2001 attacks - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
U.S. authorities believe that the hijackers were in two groups: six core organizers, who included the four pilots and two others; and the remaining thirteen who entered the United States later in pairs in the spring and summer of 2001 via the United Arab Emirates.
However the "muscle" hijackers, as opposed to the pilots, were between 20 and 28 years old and most were unmarried and without familial attachments.
Three of the hijackers, along with Ramzi Binalshibh, Said Bahaji, and Zakariyah Essabar were members of the Hamburg cell.

U.S. government investigators have believed to identify the 20th hijacker of the September 11 terrorist attacks.
Consequent to this theory, officials have ruled out Zaccarias Moussaoui and Ramzi Bin al-Shibh as the 20th hijacker due to speculations of rather participating in future plots and visa applications being repeatedly denied, respectively.
If this latest theory is correct, this "20th hijacker" was to be the supposed fifth hijacker on Flight 93, explaining the enduring mystery on why there were five hijackers on the other three planes that crashed into the World Trade Center and the Pentagon and only four on Flight 93.
