		i dunno why but my 2100s is reported as a 2000s in the device manager.
		I ended up giving up on the thing and using it just as a SCSI controller, since I'd already allocated the 19160 I had previously to one of my other machines.

		Well, I was now able to use the Adaptec 29160N for Virtual Machines(shared with service console) but I am booting off of the Initio scsi card for the actual ESX server.
		So i have 2 scsi cards(and 2 hard drives) but oh well I should be able to build virtual machines now on the ESX server on the hard drive which is connected to the Adaptec 29160N card.

		At any rate, if it comes down to the 15k RPM SCSI drive or the 2100S RAID setup, I would definitely get the single fast drive, unless MAYBE if you were going to do a 4 drive RAID 0 array on the 2100S, in which case there might arguably be a significant bandwidth advantage.
		I have heard the 2100s had a very limited bios, but that this was fixed with a recent bios release.
		I will reiterate that I have NEVER heard anyone say anything good about that particular Adaptec card, though, so I would try to stay away from it unless ALL you are using RAID for is data redundancy, and are willing to take a significant performance hit for doing so.

		Setting up the 2100S is actually pretty simple.
		The 2100S uses the asr driver which is included in the GENERIC kernel, however, I take that out of my custom kernels since most of my machine do not have a RAID controller at all, so I added this line to my kernel config and rebuilt.
		This will eventually finish and you should be good to go again.
