Tolkien originally sold the film, stage, and merchandise rights of The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings to United Artists in 1968, but they never made a film, and in 1976 the rights were sold to Tolkien Enterprises, a division of the Saul Zaentz Company.

I don't know about a Tolkien Street, but I've heard of several new streets somewhere in the US and Holland, named after places or characters in his works.
edit: Apparently, Tolkien Way was not named after Tolkien, but his eldest son John Francis Tolkien, who was priest-in-charge at a church in Stoke.
