 25th Infantry Division Association: The Division
The 27th Infantry became a fire brigade for the Allied forces moving to whatever part of the perimeter was threatened to repel the North Koreans.
During the period from the summer of 1966 to the spring of 1967 the 25th Division was the largest division in Vietnam with four brigades under its command, the division's 1st and 2nd Brigades as well as the 3rd Brigade, 4th Division and the 196th Light Infantry Brigade.
On 1 August 1967 the 3rd Brigade rejoined the 25th Division and assumed control of the former elements of the 3rd Brigade, 4th Division, the 2nd Battalion, 12th Infantry, 2nd Battalion (Mechanized), 22nd Infantry and the 3rd Battalion, 22nd Infantry.

For 56 years, the U.S. Army's 27th Infantry Division, a unit of the New York National Guard, has carried this fl mark -- as a result of a thoughtless outburst with little basis in fact -- by the Marine General commanding the Saipan Invasion in 1944.
In July 1944, the 27th Infantry Division, commanded by Army General Ralph Corbett Smith, was ordered to relieve a division of Marines engaged in fierce fighting on the mountainous island of Saipan in the western Pacific.
Admiral Nimitz concluded that there was a definite need to remove the stigma attached to the division, by the Navy Department in Washington, by publicly stating their "continued confidence in the courage and battle efficiency of the 27th Division."

The 27th Battalion was raised in South Australia in March 1915, from recruits previously earmarked for the 24th Battalion, a large number of whom hailed from the suburbs of Adelaide.

AFC, 105th Infantry, 27th division, he was sent overseas in 1944 during the liberation of the Japanese held islands of the western Pacific.
In some of the most bitter fighting in the war, Private First Class Gosa was killed in action on June 27, 1944, during the retaking of Saipan, the second largest island in the Mariana Islands.
His body was buried in the 27th Division Cemetery on Saipan.
