  SAAF C130's retired due to metal fatigue
The SA Air Force (SAAF) denied on Friday that its fleet of C130 Hercules aircraft was not airworthy.
The SAAF was responding to news reports and remarks by some defence attaches based in Pretoria that the aircraft, in use with 28 Squadron, appeared to be unsafe.
Two of the five at 28 Squadron were currently undergoing "deep level and intermediate service, leaving three that are serviceable and flying", Maseko said.

 16 Squadron SAAF - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Following the successful invasion of Madagascar, the squadron moved to Kenya, where it was equipped with the Bristol Blenheim V for use in the maritime patrol role, thus returning to its original purpose.
In April 1943 the squadron moved to Egypt, and was equipped with Bristol Beaufighters for use in anti-submarine duties.
The squadron's A Flight was transferred to AFS Port Elizabeth in 1973, with its B Flight moving first to AFB Ysterplaat, and then to AFS Port Elizbeth in 1980 to join A Flight.

In French Morocco, the 345th and 346th Fighter Squadrons, 350th Fighter Group, arrive at Casablanca, the air echelon from the UK with P-39s and P-400s and the ground echelon from the US; the 379th and 428th Bombardment Squadrons (Medium), 310th Bombardment Group (Medium), arrive at Mediouna with B-25s.
The squadron will enter combat on 30 Dec. HQ 95th, 96th and 97th Fighter Squadrons, 82d Fighter Group with P-38s is established at Tafaraoui, Algeria upon arrival from the UK.

I chose to complete the kit as a Marauder Mk II of No. 21 Squadron South African Air Force, which was based in Italy in 1944/45.
