During the Po Valley Campaign, the 305th Division defended positions east of Bolgona and on April 20, 1945, the division was caught in a pincher.
The division took part in defensive in the Pfalz region to the Rhine River where it was destroyed in April of 1945.

For example, the Blitzkrieg ("lightning war") combined arms (infantry/tank/artillery/air) assault technique was often spearheaded by SS units.
