2DTV - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
2DTV is a satirical animated television show broadcast on ITV1 in the United Kingdom that follows closely in the footsteps of Spitting Image, but using animation rather than puppets.
There's the reasonably sane Queen herself, mad Prince Philip, old fogie Prince Charles, ugly Camilla Parker Bowles, mean Princess Anne, naked Fergie, and wild sons Princes William and Harry.
2DTV produced the controversial video for the 2002 George Michael single Shoot the Dog.

When the pilot show of 2DTV was aired it included the voice of Alastair McGowan and I still tend to believe that is the best way of seeing him.
As the name suggests, 2DTV consists entirely of 2D animation, using the latest computer technology to speed up the animation process and enable topical animation to become a reality.

Guardian Unlimited | The Guardian | 2DTV is worthy succesor to Spitting Image
When ITV announced a new animated satirical show back in August, they little thought that they would be launching it in the middle of a war.
Back then, what hit the headlines was the fact that 2DTV, the heir to the Spitting Image crown, would be turning Posh and Becks into cartoon characters.
Considering the resulting acres of coverage, it's probably just as well nobody could foresee at the time that 2DTV's most daring creation would not be a stick-like singer and her dim husband, but a cuddly, bearded "Tele-Bannie" called Bin-La-La. If all goes to plan, the world will have been introduced to Bin-La-La last night.

"2DTV," the top British animated comedy show, returns to ITV with its up-to-the-minute sketches on the week's news.
The first series of 2DTV went out in ten-minute slots in October, 2001, just after the U.S.A. and its allies had started bombing Afghanistan in the wake of the 11th September terrorist attacks.
Such was the show's success that ITV1 has extended its slot from ten to 30 minutes, while earlier this year, George Michael asked Pilbrow and Searle to produce the video for his single, Shoot The Dog.

 Film Review: 2DTV: Series 3
2DTV is an animated impression sketch show, voiced by Jon Culshaw and others best known for their work on Dead Ringers.
2DTV doesn't commit Dead Ringers' crime of having to introduce every sketch by saying, "My name is..." but that's thanks to the animators rather than the impressionists.
The look of the show suggests that were the jokes, or impressions, up to scratch, 2DTV could have been wonderful.

The Observer | Screen | TV's rapid response unit
The satirical animation show 2DTV was conceived in an atmosphere of celebrity-obsession, irony and complete lack of interest in far-flung places with complicated internal politics.
The first programme went out last Sunday in an entirely different world, in which most of its potential audience had not only heard of al-Qaeda but could translate it from the Arabic, and where the impact of the overthrow of the Taliban on the Islamist opposition in Pakistan had become a burning question.
So, although 2DTV hasn't got a version of Tony Blair anything like as clever as Private Eye 's vicar of St Albion's, it may yet find one.

A widely ridiculed ban on an advert parodying George Bush without his permission has been lifted after advertising regulators admitted it was "rather harsh".
The makers of 2DTV had been barred from using a clip of the US president from the award-winning animated satire to promote a Christmas video because it breached rules barring advertisers using public personalities without their permission.
When Giles Pilbrow, the producer of 2DTV, resubmitted the ad he was told it could be shown after all.
