In October the remainder of the Regiment rode into theater, assuming responsibility for the American sector of Multinational Division (North), which stretched from the war-torn bridge at Brcko in the north to the shattered city of Srebrenica in the south.
The Regiment was relieved on the demarcation line on 7 April and returned to Saudi Arabia for redeployment to the Federal Republic of Germany.
The 1st Brigade, 25th Infantry Division deactivated to be reflagged as 2nd Cavalry Regiment; 2nd Cavalry Regiment, in turn, joined the 2nd Infantry Division, activating as the Indianhead Division's 4th Brigade.

 2 Cav. 2nd Cavalry Regiment RAAC
The Regiment's current Guidon was presented to the Regiment on 20 November 1990, on a Regimental Parade on the 1st Brigade Parade Ground, Holsworthy, by Lieutenant General Coates, who was the CGS at the time.
In 1992, the 2nd Cavalry Regiment was the first post war combat unit to move to Darwin and was set the task of establishing a rapport with the Darwin community.
The design and colour of the 2nd Cavalry Regiment colour patch is based on that of the 4th Light Horse and is light blue over dark blue, divided diagonally from lower to higher, on a rectangular patch.

This regiment was recruited in the fall of 1861, in various sections of the State, but principally in Philadelphia and in the counties of Crawford, and Tioga, and rendezvoused at Camp Patterson, six miles from Philadelphia.
The enemy's cavalry under Fitz Hugh Lee, with a regiment of infantry and a section of artillery, was driven in confusion from Bealton to the heights around Rappahannock Station.
The regiment moved with the army across the Rappahannock, and was constantly engaged in scouting, skirmishing with the enemy, and picket duty, frequently meeting with losses in killed, wounded, and captured.

In November 1971 the Squadron returned to Townsville as B Squadron, 3rd Cavalry Regiment, while the Squadron in Holsworthy was absorbed into the 2nd cavalry Regiment.
In 1981 B Squadron 3rd Cavalry Regiment was amalgamated with the 4th Cavalry Regiment to form the 3/4 Cavalry Regiment.
It was chosen as the Symbol of the 3rd Cavalry Regiment as it had already been adopted informally and painted on the side of all M113A1 vehicles with the Squadron.

The interlude in Czechoslovakia was a short one for the Second Cavalry; and between May 12 and 18 the various units moved to their new locations directly across the German border in the Landkreis (county) Koetzting, as part of the Army of Occupation.
The cavalry tradition was upheld by a horse platoon, which furnished the color guard for several years; and did valuable work patrolling areas along the Czech border which were impassable to vehicles, while on detached duty with the 6th and 14th Constabulary Regiments.
The mission of the Regiment is to provide continuous surveillance of the border as an outpost of western civilization and to provide warning of impending movement of hostile forces into West Germany.

The 5th Alabama Cavalry Regiment was organized at Tuscumbia in December, 1862, by increasing the 22nd Alabama Cavalry Battalion to a regiment, and it was brigaded under Gen'l Philip Dale Roddy.
The 11th Alabama Cavalry Regiment was organized by the consolidation of Warren's and William's cavalry battalions on 14 January 1865, comprising men from Franklin, Lauderdale, Limestone, and Morgan counties.
The regiment was engaged in the fight with Union Gen'l Grenville Dodge at Town Creek and in the pursuit of Union Col. Abel Streight.

The 2nd US Cavalry, Company A/9th Regiment Virginia Cavalry, Company D, is a mounted reenactment and living history group dedicated to accurately portraying US Regular Cavalry and Confederate troopers during the American Civil War.
The regiment served next in the western territories intervening between European settlers, natives, and bandits.
The 2nd Cavalry saw duty in the Spanish American War and served in France with their horses during World War I. Due to changes in modern warfare the 2nd Cavalry gave up their horses and sabers, and formed a mechanized unit during World War II.

The 2nd Cavalry Regiment, in one form or another, has fought in every war since then, including the Mexican-American War, the Civil War, various Indian campaigns, the Spanish-American War, WWI (where it still fought on horses), and WWII (as the mechanized 2nd Cavalry Group, 3rd Army's recon force).
The 2nd Cavalry's greatest moment of history, though, was one of it's more recent, as it was the tip of the VII Corps spear in Desert Storm, and fought in the now famous Battle of 73 Easting.
After the end of their Bosnia deployment in 1998, the 2nd ACR will become the test unit for the Strike Brigade concept, which is designed to produce a heavily armed unit able to deploy globally in 24 hours.

 2nd Armored Cavalry Regiment
With the end of the Civil War, the Second Cavalry Regiment returned to the western frontier and its campaign against the Indians, who had grown bold in the absence of "the long knives." The Regiment was scattered over several states and territories, with often only a single troop occupying a post.
The Second Cavalry was attached to the American 35th Division, playing an important role as the left flank element of eight divisions and later as the main effort between the Meuse River and the Argonne Forest.
The men from the Regiment were commended for "...accomplishing their tasks with fearlessness, courage, and disregard for danger and hardship." Three rainbow colored campaign streamers were added to the Regimental standard during World War I. With the Germans driven across the Meuse at Sedan, the stage was set for the Armistice on 11 November.

During the battle of Chickamauga, September 19-20, Colonel McCook was in command of the division, Colonel Ray of the 2nd Brigade, and Lieutenant Colonel Cook of the regiment.
On April 30, 1864, in the reorganization of the Cavalry Corps, the 2nd, under Lieutenant Colonel William F. Prosser, along with the 3rd and 4th Tennessee Regirnents and Battery "A", 1st Tennessee Light Artillery, were placed in the 1st Brigade of Brigadier General Alvan C. Gillem's 4th Division.
The regiment was not engaged on the 15th; on the 16th, it was stationed on the Hillsboro Pike, and when the Confederate lines were broken, joined in the pursuit, and was engaged on the 17th at Hollow Tree Gap; on the 25th at Anthony's Hill; and on the 26th at Sugar Creek.

2nd Massachusetts Cavalry, Company "A" Many patriotic young men on the West coast had followed the war in the newspapers and were anxious for a chance to join in the fight.
In the late summer of 1862, a group of Californians, all originally from the East Coast, contacted Governor Andrews of Massachusetts and proposed to raise one hundred volunteers to form a separate company in a cavalry regiment that was being raised in Massachusetts.
Officially they became Company "A" of the 2nd Massachusetts Cavalry, but they were more popularly known as the "California Hundred".

In 1946 the Regiment was re-designated the Second Constabulary Regiment and helped maintain order and peace along the zonal border during the chaotic years of the Iron Curtain.
In 1955 the Regiment packed its bags and headed back to the States, only to return three years later and re-establish its headquarters in Nuremberg at Merrell Barracks where it would stay until 1992.
