MedicalpocketPC Shop - 30-Minute Meals 2 - Book   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-11-02)
I am a fan of Rachael Ray's "30 Minute Meals" television program - I find her approach to cooking to be casual and fun.
I also like her enthusiasm and her belief that cooking new and interesting meals from scratch can be done by anyone.
My only criticism was that these meals took longer than 30 minutes - closer to 45 minutes for me in both cases.

30-Minute Meals 2 (ISBN 1891105108):   Very Well Said™   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-11-02)
Don't necessarily count on the recipes coming off in 30 minutes the first time around, but with a bit of practice these meals can be done in less time than it would take to get in the car and drive to a local drive-through.
This means Rachael's meals may be slightly more expensive than similar meals done a la Mario from prima materia, but if you're a 35 year old with a good job, working 10 hours a day, 30 minutes to prepare a meal is a real bargain.
These recipes can really be made in 30 minutes if you are REALLY organized like Ray is on her show and move fast.If not, allow for extra time.I've tried a few recipes from this book and also off the show and they are really good.

Yet, between work, chores, family obligations, and a badly needed opportunity to unwind, you find it difficult to get dinner on the table within the time limits that life imposes on you.
But cooking a great tasting meal isn’t nearly as time-consuming as it’s made out to be, and you don’t have to be a chef to pull it off.
You often get everything a meal has to offer in one dish – well, besides adding a scoop of ice cream to the top of your jambalaya for dessert.

Everything is arranged into meals, usually a main dish, salad or vegetable, and dessert, so it's all right there.
Many of the recipes take more than 30 minutes to make, which I found dissappointing, because I tried to use a few of these meals for nights of the week when I know I'll come home with very little energy (or time) to cook.
I know that a complete meal to Rachael Ray is a main dish, sides, and dessert, but most of them just feel unnessacary.

Road Shop: Veggie Meals: Rachael Ray's 30-Minute Meals - digihitch Store
Simple, 30 minute meals that taste great and are easy to make.
So let me bottom-line my feelings this way: this is a well-written, ambitious vegetarian cookbook that makes for great reading but I'd bet 1/3 of the recipes are beyond the skills and motivation of avocational cooks, and more than a few also struck me as too daring for the family dinner table.
Veggie Meals is worth having for fans and the bold, but not entirely useful under most conditions for committed vegetarians or those wishing to incorporate elements of vegetarianism into their lifestyle.
