History of video games (32-bit / 64-bit era) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The 32-bit / 64-bit era was also the era where the rise of console emulation happened.
The 32 bit /64 bit era saw the rise of 3D games, which largely replaced the traditional 2D games.
Bit ratings for consoles largely fell by the wayside during this era, with the notable exception of the Nintendo 64.

 128-bit era
Bit ratings for consoles largely fell by the wayside after the 16-bit era, with the notable exception of the Nintendo 64.
The number of "bits" cited in console names referred to the CPU word size, but there was little to be gained from increasing the word size much beyond 32 or 64 bits - performance depended on more varied factors, such as processor clock speed, bandwidth and memory size.
The current era is often referred to as the "128 bit era" which was encouraged by video game manufactures and media, and is misleading.

 X86
The 32-bit era was by far its longest and most lucrative period of history, where Intel continued to develop further evolution of the IA-32 framework.
All 16-bit registers except the segment ones were expanded to 32 bits.
This is done by shifting the segment address left by 4 bits and adding an offset in order to receive a final 20-bit address.

Real World Technologies - The Incredible Shrinking CPU
The first 20 years of the modern 32 bit era of microprocessor design for computer applications could be described as a quest for bigger, better, wider (BBW) CPUs.
The first generation 32 bit MPUs gave way to fully pipelined scalar designs like the i486, MC68040, and the first generation RISC chips.
The first MPUs of this era, like the MC68020 and the i386, were partially pipelined scalar designs that took multiple clock cycles to execute the simplest of instructions and averaged 3 to 8 cycles per instruction (CPI).

The 16-Bit era was the time where the Sega Genesis and the Super Nintendo ruled supreme.
We will not go that far unfortunately as the Game Boy Advance cannot be compared in any positive way to 32-Bit gaming as doing so would be completely unfair.
Towards the end of that era, there were a few more notable games that had contributions in sound and most notably would be Yoshi's Island: Super Mario World 2.

 Expert About bi:Bit
Although it is clearer symbology to use "bit" for the bit and "b" for the byte, "b" is often used for bit and "B" for byte.
The bit is the smallest unit of storage currently used in computing, although much research is ongoing in quantum computing with qubits.
A single bit is a one or a zero, a true or a false, a "flag" which is "on" or "off", or for that matter any two mutually exclusive states.

A bit unexpected for a game with so much emphasis on blasting enemies, methinks.
Why remains a mystery, but it seemed like the ninja game had gone the way of the ninja film (a subgenre that was quite popular with B-movie fans in the mid-1980s).

It was during the 32/64-bit era that video games became the mainstream form of entertainment that they are today, and as a result, the gaming industry experienced significant economic growth.
Games console sales (excluding the portable Nintendo Game Boy systems) in the 32/64-bit era of the Sony Playstation, Nintendo 64 and Sega Saturn sold around 130 million units worldwide as of 2002 - approximately twice the number of consoles sold in the 16-bit era of the Sega Mega Drive and Super Nintendo (Games Investor, 2002).
Thanks to Sony's clever marketing strategies, the Playstation was an astounding success, and its broad appeal to the mainstream market resulted in astounding growth in the video games industry as a whole.

The original case design was a bit clumsy and was superseded by an improved one.
At one time, the Sega Saturn had obtained second place in the console wars, placing it above Nintendo's Super Famicom in Japan and Nintendo's Super Nintendo Entertainment System (SNES) in North America and Europe, but the Saturn was losing power because of another newcomer: Sony's Playstation.

Nanotek Warrior suffers a bit due to the somewhat awkward play control; a paddle controller would be far more appropriate for a game that requires so much lateral movement.
The fixed rate at which you turn on the tube gets a little tiresome – an analog paddle could have added nuances to the play control that would make the game a bit smoother.
