In 336 BC, when the invasion of Persia was in its very early stage, Philip was assassinated, and was succeeded on the throne of Macedon by his son Alexander the Great.
Philip II was the champion on the 106th Olympics, in 356 BC on single horse race (this coin).
In the 108th Olympics, in 348 BC, he was the winner of the two colt chariot.

Philip II of Macedonia (382-336 BC), king of Macedonia (359-336 BC), son of Amyntas II and Eurydice was born in Pella, the capital of ancient Macedonia.
The Philippics (the second in 344 BC, the third in 341 BC) and the three Olynthiacs (349 BC), in which he urged aid for Olynthus against Philip, were all directed toward arousing Greece against the conqueror.
Philip's League of Corinth (337 BC) was intended to maintain and perpetuate a general peace (koine eirene); it was not a league at all, for it did not have the word symachia in it.

Demosthenes was born in 384 BC; his father died before he was eight, leaving his sword and furniture factories with their 55 slaves, an estate worth nearly 14 talents, in the custody of two nephews and a friend.
In 337 BC Demosthenes began serving as Theoric commissioner, and the next year Ctesiphon proposed a decree that Demosthenes be crowned once again in the theatre; but Aeschines decided to indict Ctesiphon for making an illegal proposal, which stopped the crowning although the case did not come up in court until 330 BC.

 Philip of Macedon
The Thracians were already in possession of eastern Macedonia, the strongest Greek military power of Thebes continuously intervened in the internal Macedonian politics, the Greeks colonies on the edge of Macedonia, particularly Olynthus, were obstacle to Macedonia's economy and presented a military danger, and the invasions of the Illyrians put north-western Macedonia under their occupation.
In 348 BC, the Macedonian army attacked the Chalcidice peninsula and defeated the city-state of Olynthus.
His Philippics (the second in 344 BC, the third in 341 BC) and his three Olynthiacs (349 BC, in which he urged aid for Olynthus against Philip), were all directed in arousing Greece against the foreign conqueror.

The great Athenian orator Demosthenes, already in 351 BC delivered the first of his Philippics, a series of speeches warning the Greeks about the Macedonian menace to Greek liberty.
Herodotus, related how the Macedonian king Alexander I (498-454 BC), the Philhellene, that is "a friend of the Greeks" and naturally a non-Greek, wanted to take a part in the Olympic games.
The royal tomb excavated in 1977 in Aegean Macedonia near Salonica, was at first believed to be the one of Philip II.

Pliny (Natural History, XXXV.78) placed Aetion in the 107th Olympiad (352–349 BC) and (XXXV.50) included him in a list of painters who used a palette restricted to four colours: white, yellow, red and fl.
None of Aetion’s work survives, but Pliny ascribed to him pictures of Dionysos, Tragedy and Comedy, Semiramis Rising from Slavery to Royal Power and an Old Woman Carrying Lamps and Attending a Bride, whose modesty was apparent.
His most famous painting depicted the Wedding of Alexander the Great and Roxane, and it was perhaps painted to celebrate it (327 BC).
