When, in the 4th century BC, the accepted length of the year became 365.25 days, the total number of solar calendar days involved became 2.922, and it was then realized that the octaeteris was not so satisfactory a cycle as supposed, since the 29.5-day lunation period was still used.
In 44 BC, the second year of the Julian calendar, the Senate had decided to alter the name of the month Quintilis to Julius (July), in honour of Julius Caesar, and in 8 BC Augustus prevailed upon them to change the name of Sextilis to Augustus (August), in his honour.
In 222 BC the date of assuming duties was fixed as March 15, but in 153 BC it was transferred to the Kalendae of January, and there it remained.

But by 350 BC Artaxerxes had sufficiently reestablished his authority to try and return Egypt to its former state of vassalage as it existed under the satrap Arsames.
His duties included the collection of import duties as `governor of the entrances [to Egypt] by land and sea.' Being a representative of the Persian overlords in Egypt, Nekhthorheb took care not to antagonize the local population any further and respected their religious institutions and customs as evidenced by the artifacts found bearing his name.
But Nekhthorheb was active starting around 407 BC for an unknown time span but probably cut short by the enthronement of Ramses III/Nectanebo I if not already in the days of Setnakht/Acoris [393-380 BC].
