Topic: 3908 Nyx

Llewellyn Journal - Cosmic Rays of Light For Your Astro-Path
Nyx in Greek mythology is the goddess who rules and governs the night, and in fact she was one of the first divine beings to have been born from Chaos, her father.
Nyx was an oracle, and she gave advice from one of her cavern dwellings.
The asteroid Nyx is number 3908 and where she falls in your chart, by sign and house, can tell you a lot about how you navigate and deal with the shadow side of yourself, and in what areas of your life issues that you find psychologically and emotionally complex may arise.

[7.09] Radar Observations of Asteroid 3908 Nyx (1980 PA)   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-09-21)
We report Doppler-only (cw) radar observations of near-Earth asteroid Nyx obtained at Arecibo and Goldstone in September and October of 1988.
Nyx's convex hull is among the least elongated of all near-Earth asteroids for which comparable shape information from radar observations is available.
If we assume that the projected area of Nyx is the same as that of a sphere with a diameter of 0.9 km, then Nyx's 13 cm radar cross section and absolute magnitude of 17.4 correspond to upper limits on the radar and optical geometric albedos of 0.20 and 0.25.

Finally, we note that the proposed names for the new satellites follow the convention of using names from Greek mythology for the satellites of planets, whose names are chosen from Roman mythology (i.e., Pluto is Roman while its satellites Charon, Nyx, and Hydra are all Greek).
