The NW 39th Street Enclave, Oklahoma City's gay village, is mostly concentrated along and around a section of NW 39th Street, off Pennsylvania Avenue in the city's burgeoning northwest quadrant.
The area houses the bulk of the city's most popular gay and lesbian nightclubs and bars, as well as a number of retail stores catering to the LGBT community.
This portion of NW 39th St is also home to the main festivities of the annual Oklahoma City Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, Transgendered and Intersex Pride parade, held each June.

While the area is rather uninhabited during daylight hours, it comes alive at night, with throngs of glbt people, as well as large numbers of open minded heterosexual patrons, visiting the many bars, clubs, and shops.
At the time of this writing, a new hamburger diner was scheduled to open, as well as "4015 N Penn Shops" which have been rumored to hold an athletic club, or a collection of distinct shops, or perhaps both.

While it is clear that Frye is a true ally to the GLBT community on its issues and that she has surpassed Roberts with her progressive views, there is still some division among the community about who to support.
San Diego’s GLBT community is split in their endorsements for the city council races in Districts 1 and 4, with many of the major contenders vying for the gay vote.

Diverse Paths was born with the idea that we needed to have additional meeting space and one that would also support social activities such as dances and pot luck dinners.
It is time we in the GLBT community band together, set aside political and personal differences and figure out ways to get ALL of our goals met.

Claiming it is "not a law of intolerance," Ohio Gov. Bob Taft signed on Friday one of the country's strictest same-sex marriage bans into law, despite the fervent protests of the GLBT community.
The Ohio bill singles out same-sex marriage as "against the strong public policy of this state," and forbids the state from recognizing any "public act, record or judicial proceeding" from any jurisdiction that extends the benefits of marriage to nontraditional unions.
The Buckeye State will also be the second state in the union to use the law to deny benefits to state employees with unmarried partners.
