	3DO Interactive Multiplayer - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
		The consoles were manufactured according to specifications created by The 3DO Company which were originally designed at the New Technology Group (which later became part of the 3DO Company) by Dave Needle and RJ Mical.
		The final nail in the coffin was the scuttling of the project after the expensive development of the successor console, the M2.
		The 3DO Company also designed a next-generation console called the M2, which was to use a PowerPC 602 processor, but the company abandoned the console business and sold the technology to Matsushita who never brought the system to the market.

		As an added incentive to move the units into the homes of consumers, 3DO said it is offering two shares of stock to Matsushita for each 3DO player sold before September 30, 1994.
		The stock deal in exchange for 3DO unit sales is not finalized, the company said, though it does plan to offer similar incentives to other of its hardware licensees.
		Matsushita is also releasing 3DO hardware in Japan on March 20 for a retail price of Yen54,800 in Japan, or about $500.

		Let me explain; this is Canada, and that alone nearly doubles the price compared to a US price, plus there were not too many of these 3DO's going around, so it was mainly aimed at the rich video gamer (whoever that is).

	Macworld: News: The 3DO Company files for Chapter 11 protection
		Game maker The 3DO Company has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Northern District of California.
		In a statement, 3DO chairman and CEO Trip Hawkins said his company's plan is to sell itself or its assets to another organization, though they're hoping that their bankruptcy "will generate additional new opportunities." The company will continue to operate while it's being supervised by the Bankruptcy Court.
