		Josh Hartnett of Black Hawk Down fame was definitely the highlight of the acting of 40 Days and 40 Nights.
		The acting of 40 Days and 40 Nights is lighthearted and not intended to "move" anyone, but it helps move the story along and doesn't distract you away from the ambiance of the movie.
		40 Days and 40 Nights is worth your $4.50 at Blockbuster if you are interested in getting a movie with your girlfriend/boyfriend and like to share sexual humor together.

		I've already got one friend of mine to joining with me, the same one that didn't eat for 10 days straight (he's doing perfectly fine, it took him a few days to get his appetite fully back though), so he's really confident that he will make it.
		During this 40 days, I plan to re-start my work out that I stopped awhile ago (I will continue this after the 40 days though), and have nothing more than a hug from any female, not even a kiss on the cheek, no self pleasure, etc.
		I'm not familiar with the movie, and it isn't likely i'll be having sex in the next 40 days (at least with a partner), so that may work, but forget giving up hugs and cheek kisses.

		If irony is indeed the master trope of the universe, as I have been claiming for several decades, then you know that as soon as Matt Sullivan (Josh Hartnett) makes a vow to stay celibate for the "40 Days and 40 Nights" of Lent, that he is going to meet the love of his life.
		It dawned on me that this movie has is clearly bifurcated into the "guy" parts and the "girl" parts and the biggest problem with "40 Days and 40 Nights" is that the two halves do not fit together (as compared to "50 First Dates," which overcomes a similar problem and combines comedy and sweetness).

		When I saw the trailer I thought I knew what the big climax will she or won't she moment was and over what but the film got it out of the way early and then the formula kicked in and the end of the tunnel was very clear.
		Overall, 40 Days and 40 Nights is a nice little romantic sex comedy and has plenty of laughs but does not take off when the script is concerned.
		With some good performances from the leads, this may be worth a look at the bargain theater or on video but you may want to think twice about spending eight plus bucks.

		Miramax may take a lot of flak for their aggressive approach in soliciting members of the Academy to consider their films for Oscar nominations, but I think it's safe to say that a world of film without Miramax would be a duller place indeed.
		Not that its a piece of High Art Cinema by any stretch of the imagination, but 40 Days and 40 Nights is a good example of a film most Hollywood producers simply wouldn't take a flyer on, yet Miramax willingly stepped up to the table and bankrolled this potentially dicey flick.
		Even marginally original scripts seem to be at an extra-high premium of late, with more and more studios attempting to develop film franchises that have built-in sequels, not to mention mining their television vaults for nuggets of nostalgia they can recycle for big-screen consumption.
