With 400 DEGREEZ, his first release on Cash Money/Universal Records, Juvenile is poised to tackle the big boys of rap.
All the tracks on 400 DEGREEZ were produced by Mannie Fresh.
Though 400 DEGREEZ has a familiar sound and style, the tracks are packed with energy, heart, and soul.

Among the flurry of Cash Money releases during the late '90s, 400 Degreez certainly stands out, and not just as Juvenile's shining moment but also as the album that forced everyone to suddenly take this Dirty South collective very seriously.
Before 400 Degreez, Cash Money had been operating relatively well, securing a distribution deal with Universal and broadening its audience with every successive release.
But nothing prepared anyone for the success of 400 Degreez, particularly its two anthemic singles, the tongue-twisting "Ha" and the booty-calling "Back That Azz Up." These two songs alone make 400 Degreez noteworthy.

400 Degreez, the album from which "Ha" is drawn, marks a high point in the South's musical output.
Produced by the irrepressible Mannie Fresh, 400 Degreez offers a big ol' steaming pot of musical gumbo filled with influences from dancehall, second-line brass jazz, Southern R&B, and old school hip-hop seasoned with plenty of bouncy beats, just a touch of jazzy guitars and spacey keyboards.
Yes, he a Southern rap legend and yes, 400 Degreez is considered his classic.

500 Degreez is a 2002 album released on Cash Money Records by the New Orleans rapper Lil Wayne.
The album gets its name because it was released after Juvenile, who had an album called 400 Degreez, had left Cash Money earlier, and Wayne stated he was going to do better than Juvenile.

 Rolling Stone : Jay-Z: 400 Degreez : Music Reviews
On his third album, joined by label mates Big Tymers, B.G. and Hot Boyz, Juvenile sticks to his hitmaking crew's gumbo recipe of funk.
On the consistent 400 Degreez, his gruff, clear vocals are merged with producer Manny Fresh's roaming bass lines, catchy keyboard riffs and rattling drum-machine kicks.
Songs like the ashy-to-classy tales of hustling ("Gone Ride With Me," "Ghetto Children") rise above the album's few lackluster moments (the spacey title track and the Forrest Gump-inspired "Run for It") to provide a potent platter on par with the efforts of that other N'awlins hip-hop label.

The title is inspired by the "hot block" in Uptown New Orleans where Juvenile comes from, hot because cops and thugs are all quick to draw "heat." Master P's No Limit Records now has competition from Cash Money Records, yet another fledgling label from way down South.
