When the 41st Brigade Combat Team, Oregon Army National Guard formally mobilized on Saturday, Feb. 4 it was one of the major news stories in the state, but at its heart was Lincoln County.
For John Becker, head of Newport Pacific, and Peggy Preisz, general manager of Mo's, this day was the completion of a long-held dream: to somehow serve the troops that serve the country.
In the coming months they'll be hosting events and making other efforts to help brigade members and their families - including trying to get Mo's chowder to Afghanistan.
