The 41st parallel of north latitude forms the northern border of the U.S. states of Colorado and part of Utah, and the southern border of Wyoming and the panhandle of Nebraska.
The 41st parallel was also one of the principal baselines used for surveying a portion of lands in Ohio.
It also served as the baseline for a later survey of Ohio land north of the Greenville Treaty line up to the Fulton line which was the original boundary between Michigan and Ohio under the Northwest Ordinance (see the Toledo Strip).

Some interpreters in recent years have imagined that this vague phrase describes a boundary other than a parallel of latitude, and have produced novel maps showing a line that runs at a compass heading of 315 degrees, which is of course northwest.

I left my home just north of the 41st parallel and 112W Northern Utah at about 5:30 AM, I wanted to make this run SOLO, I enjoy the solitude of wide open spaces.
From here I turned north on a well maintained gravel road (36000 West) and drove northbound another 2.2 miles until I reached the second of two cattle guards and the fence line at the Utah -Idaho State Line.
While at the cattle guard working with the GPSr I scaled it down to the 500ft range, and there was a road shown on the detail map (Magellan Mapsend TOPO detail map v.20) heading west along the north side of the state line fence toward the confluence marked 27440 N road.
