48 Hours is a 1982 action comedy film directed by Walter Hill, starring Eddie Murphy (in his film debut), Nick Nolte, James Remar, David Patrick Kelly, Brion James, and Annette O'Toole.
The screenplay was written by Hill, Roger Spottiswoode, Larry Gross, Steven E. de Souza and an uncredited Jeb Stuart.
The film spawned a 1990 sequel, Another 48 Hours.

Released in 1982, this was Eddie Murphy's film debut (and some might argue, high point of his career).
The absence of distractions such as dot crawl, chroma noise and moire is an important factor in allowing the viewer to forget about the medium and concentrate on the film.
I did notice the slightest bit of distortion in the higher frequencies in a few scenes, but due to the very limited nature may well have been physical damage to the sound elements.
