		Since the 490s were being tied to the computer, they had to perform tasks that they probably weren't intended for, like being used for voice conferencing or internet phone calls, or for reproducing sound effects from my favorite first-person shooter.
		It was so bad that I took back the 490s for a second set, because I couldn't believe that ANY headphone pair, let alone any pair made by Sennheiser, could be so off-the-mark.
		The 490s fail on both counts, since the distorting bass comes in way too early for any resemblance of serious 'thump', and of course, with all that distortion, there IS no sound quality, at ANY frequency.

		It has a funky, 70s feel to it, with lots of detail, slamming bass and a small orchestra to boot.
		I thought that using my worst headphones (490s) before the A8s might make things better.
		While the MS-1s and the 580s seem to thump at the slightest insinuation (and the 490s produce a rumble) the A8s simply won't even try to play them.

		Don't buy these over similar priced retail models, for 30 bucks they are a deal, but I would reccomend the hd497 over the 490's, or a pair of sony cans, or a pair of Denon can's in the same range.
		Whereas, the 490s are extremely comfortable (I've had them on for 4 hours tonight and still don't feel any discomfort).
		It's true that if I turn them up to mid-point the bass tends to distort a little but, maybe that's not such a bad thing--you really shouldn't listen to headphones at high volume, unless you're planning on not listening at all in the future.
