The 4th Infantry Division (Mechanized) is a combat division of the United States Army based at Fort Hood, Texas.
4th Infantry Division was reactivated on June 1, 1940 at Fort Benning, Georgia, under the command of MG Walter E. Prosser.
It took part in the Normandy Invasion, with the 8th Infantry Regiment of the 4th Division was one of the first Allied units to hit the beaches at Normandy on D-day, June 6 1944.

The other three armies were intending to pressure across the line, even if that meant attacking with out of supply units in the early going to keep the Russian from using their rail mobility to shift reinforcement to threatened areas.
We hear coming over the radio from 4th Army HQ "The dice gods have 'shat' upon me." This was also particularly nasty as by surrounding this unit, Greg left some key mech units exposed who are now facing "at least" one 16 strength unit.
If the 4th army had arrived at the southern side of the city things would have been different, but they were still slowly advancing (still at least one turn away).

I was with the 4th Sig Grp from November 1958 to October 1960.
Professional Army standards and decorum appeared to go away with the new management and was replaced with a cold sense of apprehension, uncertainty and tension……and was further aggravated by the arrival of a new, mean, self-righteous Sergeant-Major who would go on to terrorize the unit and some of the neighboring entities as well.

But it would be good, for instance if the army with modern armour attacked 3 times, the arty would take a shot before each attack.
But I guess the real benefit of the army is that another unit takes over when one is about to die, thus saving it, and since arty only gets captured it defeats the point of having it in that group.
I wouldn't place it in an army with anything else as it would be to slow (w/ Calvalry, MA or MI) or ineffective (Musket/rifleman) Also I would have to experiment with it first to make sure I wouldn't lose the benifit of the Arty.

The helmet lying on the base was worn by MG John F. Ruggles when he landed with the Division on D-Day.
