 History for 6th Infantry Division
It was one of the 102 Infantry Divisions mobilized in 1917 for the American Expeditionary Force to fight the Germans Army in WWI.
Patches were authorized, however the divisions were never mobilized due to the fact that 2 atomic bombs were dropped on Japan ending the war.
The 6th Infantry Division was deactivated at Fort Ord, California February 1949 and reactivated at Fort Ord 1950 - deactivated at Fort Ord, California in 1956.

The division had a wide open German flank in the opening turns of game as it was only faced by the right flank of the German 22nd Res Inf Div and was making good progress until it ran into the advanced elements of the German 8th Inf Div.

The 54th Massachusetts Volunteer Infantry was an infantry regiment that participated in the American Civil War which was the first formal Army unit to be comprised of African-Americans.
This unit, organized by the governor of Massachusetts, John A. Andrew and commanded by Colonel Robert Gould Shaw after the passage of the Emancipation Proclamation, was created for the express purpose of proving that African-Americans could be good soldiers.
This recruitment group was later knows as "The Black Committee." The 54th left Boston, Massachusetts to fight for the Union on May 28, 1863.

Posted to the 54th Division April 1915 replaced the 4th Suffolk, joined the 4th and 5th Norfolk regiments and the 5th Suffolk regiment in the 163rd Brigade under Brigadier General Brunker.
Under protest of the ninth division the operation as postponed 24 hours, on the afternoon of the 12th the 163rd brigade moved forwardthe objective was some huts about a mile ahead of its outpost line.
The 54th found its new positions fairly well consolidated and the 8th Hampshire spent 3 months in this sector first going to Hill 60 where the smell of unburied bodies was very offensive.
