Notes for WILLIAM FITZPATRICK: William Fitzpatrick was born: 1778 (could also be 1768), and was a member of the British Army, 54th Regiment of Foot, 77th Regiment of Foot, and the 100th Regiment of Foot (later became the 99th Regiment of Foot), (recruited in Dublin in 1804).
In the meantime, William's old Regiment, the 100th, had broken up (disbanded) at Quebec in July 1818, and, according to Whitton, a very liberal offer of land was made to every member of the corps on condition of his becoming an actual settler.
About 300 officers and men of the Regiment accepted the offer and it was decided to found a settlement on the Upper Ottawa, the cadre of the Regiment returning to England- "On July, 1818, the settlers from the old 100th Regiment, embarked at Quebec en route for their new home.
