		The 580s were difficult to drive, but they cost a fraction of what I paid for the Stax 'phones, which left room in my budget for a small Creek OBH-11 headphone amplifier.
		By comparison, the HD 580s were not quite as clean and transparent through the midrange, though the difference wasn’t huge.
		But stainless-steel screens on the outside of the HD 600s replace the plastic of the HD 580s, and the ear cup, which used to be plastic, is now replaced by one of carbon fiber, which is said to reduce resonance.

		The HD 580s come with a 3 meter long copper cord, which is convenient because with that kind of length, you'll likely not need extension cord to get to your sound source.
		The HD 580s are cased in a hard, gray plastic - there is some metal in the headphone, mainly for the expandable headband, but for the most part it's plastic, which keeps the phones very lightweight for its size.
		The Sennheiser HD 580s feature an "open" design, which means that the casing that surrounds the headphone drivers doesn't seal out the outside.

		I want something for portable audio, and the 580s require more juice than most amps can put out on portable audio players.
		Unfortunetly, the 580s are out of the picture for the moment - I am not in great need of a pair of good cans for home use.
		These are an import item, so they're a little more pricey(cheaper than the 580s though), however they have many pros.

		HD 580s are great if you have the money.
		IMO the 497s are 3/4 as good as the 580s, main problem is the 497s sound a bit "dry".
		One tidbit i'll add in is the HD497 is a bargain for the high quality they deliver, and they don't need an amplifier unlike the more expensive models.

		While the MS-1s and the 580s seem to thump at the slightest insinuation (and the 490s produce a rumble) the A8s simply won't even try to play them.
		Only upper bass is played, nicely though for a set of earphones.

		I highly dislike the cheapo looking "blue-grey" plastic grills on the 580s.
		But I must say that I like the look of the 580s much better than that 1989-style "carbon-fiber" marble look of the 600s (no offense to 600 lovers)!
		I know they surely sound better than 580s, and like someone said "you don't look in the mirror while listening to headphones", but man- I'd have to get some neon green biking shorts and checker-board Vans to go with the 600s.

		I used to own the rega ear with my 580s, I also own a nad integrated amp, and the rega ear is very much the same, so if you liked that sound, then its a good choice.
		I got the Marantz receiver assuming that I would be working soon after college and would in the next few years hopefully setup a basic surround sound system of some sort...nothing amazing...but music is my life so I would scrimp and save for the additional pieces.
		Yes I use the 352 for my 580s, I recnetly upgraded from the 320BEE (I'm selling it in the forums here), both provide good quality for the sennheiser series.
