When we come back, as the Attorney General or the government of Ontario, with legislation, I think there will be ample opportunity to discuss as parliamentarians with the Attorney General or other sponsor of the bill the contents of the bill and the government rationale.
If it were combined with a general election, we haven't really got a handle on that, but we're talking about an amount, combining the two, of something in the neighbourhood of $55 million to $60 million, if they were combined.
In terms of citizen-initiated ones, it's BC and Saskatchewan only, although in the Saskatchewan one what's interesting is that on the general referendum initiated by the government it binds the government, but in the vote initiated by the public, by the electorate, it is not binding on the government.

With the Peace of St. Germain-en-Laye in 1632, the whole of Nova Scotia was restored to France and the majority of the settlers returned to Scotland, though some joined the Puritan colony in Boston, Massachusetts Bay, and others are said to have gone to the French settlement at LaHeve, in Nova Scotia.
In 1717 Col. Richard Philipps of South Wales was appointed Governor of Nova Scotia and of Placentia in Newfoundland, continuing to hold office until 1749, although for most of that period he resided out of the Province, governing the country by means of lieutenant-governors.
In August 1737 he was a Commissioner along with Dr. William Skene and Otho Hamilton of H. Council of Nova Scotia, and four others from Rhode Island, to mark out and settle the boundaries between the province of Massachusetts Bay and the colony of Rhode Island.

(1) Subject to the approval of the House of Assembly by majority vote, the Governor in Council shall appoint a person to be the Auditor General.
(1A) Subject to subsection (1B), the Auditor General holds office for a term of ten years and may not be re-appointed.
(1B) The Governor in Council shall remove the Auditor General on the passing by the House of Assembly of a resolution carried by a vote of two thirds of the members of the House of Assembly voting thereon requiring the Governor in Council to remove the Auditor General from office.

This legislation is intended to provide workers in the offshore oil and gas industry with the same kind of occupational health and safety protections as those on shore.
The Bill would require the province to compensate municipalities for increases in required expenditures or decreases in revenue where the Minister of Service Nova Scotia and Municipal Relations has not given the required one (1) year notice of the legislation regulations or administrative action by the province that results in the increase or decrease.
The report would be required to contain an explanation of what costs are covered by the revenue source, what percentage of the revenue source is cost recovery and what percentage goes to general revenue and the statutory authority for that revenue source.

 Compendium of Election Administration in Canada
The Chief Electoral Officer must, on the close of nominations at a general election, delete from the registry any registered party that did not at the close of nominations have candidates in at least fifty of the electoral districts.
An application for registration must be accompanied by a complete and accurate petition for registration signed by not fewer than 2 500 voters, 1 000 of whom must reside in at least 10 different constituencies, with a minimum of 100 voters in each of those constituencies.
A political party may apply to be registered at any time during the period commencing on the day fixed for the return to a writ for a general election and ending on the day that is five days after the issue of the writ commencing the next general election.

A first step in that direction would be for the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights to be requested to submit a report to the General Assembly, thus laying the ground for General Assembly attention and a resolution.
In other words, audit what we've been doing and understand that after 25 or 50 years, depending on which country has been involved...the reports from your very group here suggest that the situation is indeed worse than it was before.
Perhaps that's the area we should be focusing our direction on, so that over a period of the next 20 years, the next generation coming up and going through the schools will be a better part of society.
