 Staffordshire - LoveToKnow 1911
In the 13th century mines of coal and iron are mentioned at Walsall, and ironstone was procured at Sedgley and Eccleshall.
Thus in the 17th century the north of the county yielded coal, lead, copper, marble and millstones, while the rich meadows maintained great dairies; the woodlands of the south supplied timber, salt, fl marble and alabaster; the clothing trade flourished about Tamworth, Burton, and Newcastle-under-Lyme; and hemp and flax were grown all over the county.
In the south-west, near Stourbridge, are Enville, a Tudor mansion with grounds laid out by the poet Shenstone, and Stourton Castle, embodying portions of the r 5th century, where Reginald, Cardinal Pole, was born in 1500.

 Baron Mowbray
The title of Baron Mowbray is a very old one in the Peerage of England, created by writ.
The title was united with the Barony of Segrave in 1368, when John Mowbray, 1st Earl of Nottingham and 5th Baron Mowbray succeeded to that title.
Thereafter, it was united with the Barony of Stourton after it, and the barony of Segrave, were brought out of abeyance in the nineteenth century in favour of the twentieth Baron Stourton.

Moreover, he had two brot hersin-law, Lords Stourton and Monteagle, among the peers destined for assassination.
He expressed his dislike of the plan from the first, and, according to his own account, he endeavoured to dissuade Catesby from the whole project, urging that the Romanist cause would derive no benefit, even in case of success, from the attempt.
On the 5th of December a copy of the Treatise of Equivocation, in which the Jesuit doctrine on that subject was treated, was found amongst his papers by Sir Edward Coke (see Garnet, Henry).

The exact time of the decease of this great feudal baron is not ascertained, but it is known that he was buried before the high altar in the abbey of Wymondham, and that the monks were in the constant habit ofpraying for his soul by the name of "William de Albini, the king's butler".
Notes: Whilst it is possible that his elder brother John did not take the title of Baron because he never reached the age of maturity, it is not clear why Giles did not either.
However, as his grandson Giles obtained a new creation as a peer, and noting that none of the 3rd to 5th lords were actually called to parliament, it is possible that there was doubt on the inheritance of the Barony from the time of the 2nd Lord.
