  Royal Dragoon Guards Museum and Regimental Association
The Royal Dragoon Guards was formed on 1 August 1992, as a result of the amalgamation of the 4th/7th Royal Dragoon Guards and the 5th Royal Inniskilling Dragoon Guards.
The 4th Royal Irish were combined with the 7th (Princess Royal's) Dragoon Guards to form the 4th/7th Dragoon Guards, while the 5th and 6th amalgamated to form, initially the 5th/6th Dragoons, but in 1927 this was changed to the 5th Inniskilling Dragoon Guards.
The 5th Royal Inniskilling Dragoon Guards (the Skins) for their part were in almost continuous action from Normandy to the end of the War, taking part in the successful action to capture S-Hertogenbosch and the breakout from the Rhine bridgehead.

The 5th Royal Inniskilling Dragoon Guards was a cavalry regiment of the British Army in existence from 1922 to 1992, when it was amalgmated into the Royal Dragoon Guards.
The Regiment was formed in 1922 at Cairo, Egypt as the 5th/6th Dragoons by the amalgamation of the 5th Dragoon Guards (Princess Charlotte of Wales's) and The Inniskillings (6th Dragoons).
The Inniskillings began their advance on Belgium on 31 August -- the 7th Armoured Division's objective was the city of Ghent -- and crossed the Somme, where the Regiment's predecessor regiments had fought during World War I, and Authie rivers.

The Royal Dragoon Guards formed on 1st August 1992 as a result of the amalgamation of the 4th/7th Royal Dragoon Guards and the 5th Royal Inniskilling Dragoon Guards.

In 1989 the tercentenary year of the Royal Inniskilling Fusiliers, four were restored and conserved and can be seen mounted on the East wall of the Regimental Chapel.
Since 1968 the Royal Inniskilling Fusiliers have ceased to exist as a separate and distinct regiment for they have been amalgamated with four other regiments to become the Royal Irish Regiment.
A Standard of the 5th Royal Inniskilling Dragoon Guards is in a glass case adjacent to the entrance to the Chapel and the Sovereign's and Regimental Colours of the 5th Battalion The Royal Inniskilling Fusiliers can be seen at the rear beyond the Book of Remembrance.

Lieutenant Colonel Robert Baden Powell, who commanded the 5th Dragoon Guards, was to put his South African experience to good use as the founder of the Boy Scout Movement, while Lieutenant L E G Oates, of the 6th Inniskilling Dragoons, became a legend of self sacrifice himself rather than impede the progress of his comrades.
When the 7th Dragoon Guards were in India in 1911 they found it was customary to have a “Red Letter Day” which was observed as a general holiday.
However artefacts from the 5th Dragoon Guards can be seen in the Cheshire Regiment Museum at the Castle in Chester and artefacts from the 6th Inniskilling Dragoons are displayed in the Museum of the Enniskillen Regiments at the Castle Barracks, Enniskillen.
